Christine Vidlund - Mathematics
Mrs. Vidlund is a dedicated educator with a background in teaching and curriculum development. A Michigan native, she holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University. Mrs. Vidlund began her teaching career with an international assignment in a Kindergarten classroom in New South Wales, Australia. She completed her studies with a year-long internship teaching second and third grades in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Upon graduating, she relocated to Florida to start her professional teaching career at Cypress Lake Middle School, where she taught 6th grade Math, 8th grade Pre-Algebra, and Algebra 1 Honors for 11 years. During her tenure, she also served as the Mathematics Department Chair.
Currently, Mrs. Vidlund teaches Algebra 1 Honors and Honors Geometry at FSWC. Her courses are taught using Florida's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards for Mathematics. Mrs. Vidlund’s classroom environment is characterized by its rigor, collaboration, support, and engagement. She employs a flipped classroom model, encouraging students to preview lessons and take notes at home, and then engage in practice and problem-solving with their peers during class. Her courses integrate collaborative and creative projects aligned with quarterly benchmarks, fostering an interactive and stimulating learning experience. Mrs. Vidlund is committed to ensuring that her students not only achieve academic success but also develop critical thinking and teamwork skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
